Hello,
I just received my G4. I have some questions:
1/ I got it without optical drive, since I wanted to be sure it would play zone 1 DVDs...
Anyways, I bought a new optical drive (the recommend Panasonic UJ-846).
I followed the installation instructions but I couldn't get the G4 to work.
I am using an ATX power supply to use the unit on my test bench in order to prepare the software installation.
When I fire it up, lights come on. I can open and close the motorized rack, but the DVD drive won't suck the DVD in... just like if the DVD wasn't powered.
I have tried to remove and to put back the thin soft plug, but it keeps doing this.
2/ I was wondering if all cables need to be plugged in to get the G4 to work?
3/ Also, I've seen some pictures of the BIOS. Does anyone know how to go into the BIOS?
Thanks!

I am moving forward because now the optical drive works.
I changed the DDR with a slower memory... The one I bought and the one from my laptop were perhaps not adapted to the unit...
I can hear the hard drive and the optical when the G4 starts. But the screen is still black and doesn't display anything. I plugged a keyboard in the USB and I can see the lights on it when the system turns on.
What should I do to make the G4 works? Can I make a reset? I noticed a reset button... how can I use it?
thanks

for the bios, you just have to hit 'Delete' on you USB keyboard quite soon.
Nota: It seems working better if the keyboard is plugged on the rear usb ports.
