Moulding in-dash

I don't like the idea of having it on top of the dash, so was thinking of mounting it in the radio bay and the space below it. A 7" tft should fit fine, but I want to mold it into position. What material do people use to mount the face plate of the TFT and to fill in the gaps so it can be sanded smooth?
